Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to Prince Edward County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or using a search feature signals acceptance of every term below. Do not continue using the site if you disagree.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no connection to a local, state, or federal agency. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offers a service intended for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or any other use regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The purpose is to locate official Prince Edward County and Virginia criminal-record resources. We are neither private investigators nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, operated independently of government. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves records, runs official checks, or files documents for users.

Its content identifies the Prince Edward County Sheriff's Office, local criminal courts, Virginia State Police CCRE, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry as official custodians, while some pages also connect to outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the site is conditioned on the following restrictions. You may not:

  • Use automated scrapers, bots, or similar tools against the pages
  • Violate a federal, Virginia, or local law through the site
  • Interfere with availability or prevent another visitor's access
  • Use information to threaten, stalk, or harass a person
  • Attempt unauthorized access to the site's systems
  • Rely on the content for employment, housing, credit, or insurance decisions

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No one may use information found here or through a linked tool to stalk, intimidate, threaten, harass, or discriminate. Virginia places specific limits on use of information from the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry, and misuse against a registrant can lead to criminal penalties. The registry serves public-safety awareness, not vigilantism or discriminatory action.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and create no consumer report, credit report, or official background check. Our services and those of our advertising partners are not designed to evaluate applicants, renters, insurance risks, or credit. Data from this site or a linked tool may not be used to:

  • Determine eligibility for housing or a rental
  • Set an insurance premium or assess creditworthiness
  • Make a hiring, firing, or other employment decision
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other purpose regulated by the FCRA

A regulated background check must be obtained through an authorized Virginia State Police process or an FCRA-compliant screening provider.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is not legal advice. General descriptions of Prince Edward County records cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, sealing rule, or expungement law applies to one person. Consult a Virginia-licensed attorney for that analysis.

6. No Warranties

All content is provided "as is," without a promise that:

  • A partner's search output will be complete or correct
  • Information will always be accurate, complete, and current
  • Every page will be free from bugs, errors, or security defects
  • The website will remain continuously available

Charges, dismissals, sealing orders, and expungements can change a record. Updates may lag, so no site content should be treated as an official statement from a sheriff, court, or other government body.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to court portals, sheriff pages, state agencies, legal-aid organizations, and outside search providers. We do not control those destinations and accept no responsibility for their content, privacy practices, fees, or availability. Review the destination's terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Prince Edward County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Copying, modifying, distributing, or creating derivative works requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the greatest extent allowed by law, we disclaim liability for damages arising from site use, including reliance on information found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to hold us harmless against a claim, demand, or legal action caused by your site use or breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms. A dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in Virginia. Public-record access remains governed by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, while CCRE dissemination is controlled by Virginia Code § 19.2-389.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these conditions. Updated terms take effect when posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or terminated at any time, for any reason, without prior notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay effective. The affected text will be adjusted only as needed for enforcement.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
